Lianne Brown had long dreamed of organising a wellbeing festival, and upon meeting June Meagher, they decided to combine their expertise to create one, leading to the inception of the Selkie Soul Festival.

Lianne Brown, born in Dunfermline, Fife, first trained in holistic wellbeing 28 years ago and quite literally fell into energy healing 25 years ago while working as a professional entertainer travelling the world aboard the cruise liner Black Watch. Among the crew was GunGun, a gentle soul from Bali who worked as a barman. Lianne had met him several times without realising that behind his quiet smile was a Yogi Master. One day, after a fall left her with an injured ankle, GunGun offered to help. What followed was a moment of profound transformation — as his hands channelled a deep, radiant energy that soothed both her pain and her spirit. Amazed by the experience, Lianne began to learn from him informally, discovering what he called Higher Yoga. Through self-practice and continued exploration, she experienced the profound healing and balance it brought to her mind, body, and spirit.

That encounter became a true turning point — the spark that ignited a lifelong journey of energy work, holistic wellbeing, and the healing power of human connection. That life-changing path continues to weave through everything she creates today — from her work as a Reiki Master and musician to the creation of the Selkie Soul Festival, co-founded alongside June Meagher and Vida Belsher.

In 2001, Lianne moved to London to pursue her professional career as a singer, dancer, actress, and presenter. During her time there, she also deepened her spiritual practice through meditation and furthered her training in Ashtanga Yoga and Qigong, completing her teaching qualifications and expanding her understanding of movement, energy, and the mind–body connection.

Teaching Yoga and Qigong came naturally to Lianne, having taught dance from the age of 14 and later singing — sharing her lifelong passion for movement, expression, and empowerment. Moving on from her London years, Lianne was the lead singer in various bands and worked as a manager for many years.

Upon returning from a singing contract in Dubai, she furthered her training in holistic therapies, gaining qualifications in massage, reflexology, and Indian head massage. She also expanded her understanding of the mind, achieving certifications in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and later became a community drum circle facilitator, combining rhythm and connection as a tool for wellbeing and unity. Having long been active as both a performer and band manager, Lianne naturally transitioned into event management in 2011. She began producing live music events — handling everything from booking and promotion to full-scale organisation. As festival organiser for the highly successful Blues, Booze and BBQ’s Festival in West Yorkshire, she brought together musicians from around the globe, attracting visitors from far and wide.

This success was followed by a series of regular events, community gatherings, and charity fundraisers — each driven by her passion for bringing people together and raising awareness for good causes. In 2012, Lianne created Fusion Impact, a high-energy, fun dance fitness programme designed to move your body, boost serotonin, and awaken those feel-good, happy hormones. She created this to help people build a positive connection with their overall health and well-being. Over the years, this has reached thousands of participants from all walks of life and across many cultures, during classes, festivals, and events.

From 2012 to 2014, she founded the dance company Raw Fusion, leading and choreographing a dance troupe that performed at numerous events and even opened for a television show. In 2013, Lianne created and founded Fusilates — a beautiful method of yoga blending elements of Qigong with mindful movement, resulting in a flowing regime that strengthens, stretches, and balances the body, mind, and spirit.

In 2016, she opened her wellness centre in Halifax, West Yorkshire – The Holistic Hangout — a vibrant community space for those passionate about health and healing in a holistic way. The Hangout hosted monthly networking meet-ups, which welcomed guest experts to share their knowledge through talks and mini workshops, alongside a rich calendar of wellness events, exhibitions, and creative gatherings. During this time, Lianne deepened her practice and training with experts in their field, studying Reiki, chakra balancing, and sound healing, and learning the art of soundscaping — creating immersive sound journeys designed to calm the mind and restore energetic balance. She went on to become an Usui and Holy Fire® Reiki Master Teacher, using Reiki for self-healing, to support others, and to teach students through placements and ignitions, continuing to explore the depth and sacredness of energy healing as both a personal and collective practice.

At The Holistic Hangout, Lianne also hosted cacao ceremonies, full moon gatherings, and sister circles — nurturing safe, sacred spaces for community connection, healing, and shared reflection. The Hangout became a thriving hub where people could connect, learn, and grow together through workshops on crystals, angels, meditation, and energy healing, as well as arts and photography exhibitions that celebrated creativity and community. When COVID-19 restrictions prevented people from meeting in person, Lianne took the Holistic Hangout online, expanding its reach internationally. This allowed her to collaborate with facilitators from across the globe and welcome participants from Thailand, Australia, Spain, Germany, Scotland, England, Wales, and Ireland.

Today, Lianne continues to work as a holistic therapist, bringing healing through Reiki, massage, reflexology, and Indian head massage. She also leads group Reiki meditations, chakra balancing workshops, soundscapes, and Rhythm & Moves sessions — creating inclusive, heart-led spaces for people to connect, release, and restore balance.

Alongside her healing work, Lianne continues to produce and take part in a range of music, wellbeing, and community events throughout the year, as well as perform across the country. She is lead singer in Wild Thyme and Astoria, and runs a thriving community singing group, Ocean Echoes, which brings people together through song and expression.

Lianne is now thrilled to bring her passion for creativity, wellbeing, and community connection to Scotland’s southwest coast through the Selkie Soul Festival — a first-of-its-kind celebration in the area, co-created with June Meagher and Vida Belsher, weaving together music, healing, wellbeing and heart.
